On review, I have amended the name from Manson to Mawson (which is confirmed by the printed name on the image) and agreed with the reading of 'ribbons'. Have suggested 'Poster' but left in square brackets as far from convinced of this.

Could be 'portions'? Not sure that fits either but.....

Portions reads very oddly, but it does have an 'i' in it so you could be right.

Could it mean like slivers of oak but call them portions, I wondered.
