No, not Dewey system. But yes the supposed deletion is an ampersand

Not the Dewey system but some kind of alphanumeric label ...
Have amended the Reference columns on the pages I did yesterday; and put the & on Row 10!
You don't need to take any notice of me, my wife will tell you I am wrong 90% of the time, the remaining 10% I haven't a clue!
Perhaps the National Archives can clarify? The column heading "Reference to Report" might suggest that there is an actual paper report, labelled with a specific reference (e.g. "SDAF/2 22/6/17") that is filed somewhere.

Ah ok! will treat the reference as a code bit (what is SDAF??) plus a standard date from now on.
