Logbook of a whaling voyage to the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Includes description of whales seen or taken, accidents, deaths at sea, punishments, and shipboard medicine. Also contains whale stamps, a crew list, and a sketch of the Bark Canton. One man died on 29 December 1873 after receiving medical attention. One man fell from the main yard on 8 February 1874, broke his leg as a result, and saw a doctor on Norfolk Island. One man tried to attack other members of the crew with a cutting spade and was punished as a result on February 14, 1874. One man was killed by a whale on August 4, 1874. One man was thrown in irons for threatening members of the crew on September 16, 1874. Whaling grounds include the Western, Middle, Callao, On Shore, and Galapagos grounds.; Old Dartmouth Historical Society (ODHS 667); Whaling vessel out of New Bedford, Mass., mastered by Ferdinand Lee, on a voyage 15 July 1871 - 21 September 1875; managing agent Taber, Gordon Co.; built in Mattapoisett, Mass. 1842.
