1 PM hauled by the wind to the NE
reefed Topsails Fore sail and main
Spencer set at 4 PM. blowing on and
weather thick and rainy. took in foresail
and fore topsail and close reefed Main
T. sail. wind N. heading E.N.E. Middle
part fresh gale, latter part more moderate
at day light set the requisite sail and steered
E.N.E. W.N.W winds. Saw nothing worthy
of remark

Wednesday Dec 31st
Comes in with fresh gale from W by N.
rugged Squally and hazy, heading by
the wind on port tack. at 6 PM blowing
hard. Ship under close reefed M. Spencer
Middle part the same. Latter part wind W.S.W
at 7 AM. set the requisite and steered N by W
Mr Kellis sick off duty.
