FOR THE WELL-BEING OF MANKIND
THE JULIUS ROSENWALD FUND is a philanthropic corporation established under the laws
of the state of Illinois, "for the well-being of mankind." Chartered in 1917, and reorganized
in 1928, it is controlled by a board of thirteen trustees and managed by officers who give
their full time to the work. Mr. Lessing J. Rosenwald is Chairman of the Board of Trus-
tees; Edwin R. Embree is President of the Fund. Its principal fields of interest have been
(I) promotion of Negro schools and Negro welfare generally, (2) encouragement of pay
clinics and other forms of organized medical services for the man of moderate means, (3)
projects in general education and child study and in the social sciences and public admin-
istration. The office of the Fund is at 4901 Ellis Avenue, Chicago. The headquarters for
southern office is located at 502 Cotton States Building, Nashville.
