were in thick beds-several
feet wide all along the
high hedged sides. Some
of the flowers were 4 ft
high. The hedges usually
12 to 15 ft. high. A few
of them Box wood, most
of them yew. In several of
the 8 or 10 gardens growin-
ing into each other throu
the high hedges were lovely
