PLACES TO GO AND THINGS TO SEE Asheville is situated in one of the most beautiful localities in America. There are many interesting things to see and we want you to see them. The Special Service Officer has scheduled tours in busses to some of the famous beauty spots in the vicinity. The highest mountains east of the Mississippi are within fifty miles of Asheville. The 600 acres of rhododendron at Craggy Mountain form beautiful natural gardens. The Pack Memorial Library and the Sondley Library are located in Pack Square.
The Biltmore industries near Grove Park Inn specialize in the hand weaving of home spun. Raw wool is washed, dyed, carded, spun and hand woven into fine cloth. Guides will take you through this very interesting establishment.

The Biltmore House and Gardens are two miles frmo downtown Asheville. The mansion is considered one of the finest private homes in America. The many miles of raod leading through the gardens and farming lands of this estate add interest to this tour.

Chimney Rock is located about 25 miles from Asheville. From the summit there is a wonderful panorama of Lake Lure. Lake Lure has a shore line 27 miles long with many beautiful bays and inlets.

Happy Valley is only 4 miles from downtown Asheville. Views of this valley may be had from the scenic highway which travels the ridge of the surrounding mountains. We hope you will enjoy your stay. When you report, your responsiblity as an overseas veteran goes with you/ The knowledge you have acquired can be very valuable to less experienced men.
