By the Governor and Lords Deputies with the rest of the hono.ble
Councill of state, To all persons Greeting In our Lord God everlasting

whereas itt sufficiently apears to us That Robt pane of this County deceased makeing
no will, and stephen Hancock of the sd County, who married the relict of the sd pane
deceased, apearing before the justices of the Lords proprietors peace att Berkeley precinct
Court, held the 12th of February last past desireing order for administracon of all [torn]
every the sd deceaseds estate, which was accordingly granted: wee do therfore in o[illegible]
servance to the aforesd order of Court, hereby authorize & impower the sd. Step[hen]
Hancock to administer on all & every the estate both reall and personall of the sai[d]
Robt. pane deceased & out of the same to satisfie and pay all his just debts so fore
[fortn?] as the sd estate will extend or amount unto, & a true and just Inventory of al[l]
& every the sd estate which shall come to his hands, possession or knowledge, apraise
according to Law to return into the Secretaries office and thereoff to be accomptable, a[t]
any time when legally required hee haveing given in Security by
himselfe for his so doing; Given under our hands and the seal of the Collony, th[is]
twenty seventh day of March Anno. Domi 1680

know all men p[per] these presents that wee Stephen Hancock &
[blank] both of the County of Albemarle in the province of Carolin[a]
planters do bind our selves & either of us joyntly & severally, our
heirs Executors and Administrators to pay or cause to bee [crossed out] well & true[ly]
paid unto his Excellency the palatine, and the rest of the true and
absolute Lords and proprietors of the aforesd province of Carolina o[r]
to their heirs & successors the full and jsut sume of twenty thousand
pounds of good sound merchantable Tobo.[tobacco] and Caske to containe ye sam[e]
payable upon forfeiture of the condicon hereinto annexed In witnes[s]
whereoff wee have hereunto sett our hands & seals this 29th March 1680

The Condicon of this Obligacon is such That whereas the above bounden Steph: Hancoc[k]
haveing reced lett[er]s of administracon upon the estate of Robt pane deceased, do an[d]
shall well & truely perform what therein hee is enjoyned, according to the tenor of
the sd Comission, and shall save & keep the Court harmless & undempnified from
all & every person or persons that may or shall lay claim to, or pretend interest
in the sd estate of the sd Robt. pane deceased, duely executing & truely, performing
the office of an administrator to all intents & purposes as therein to him the said
Stephen Hancock is granted that then this present obligacon to bee void & of noe
effect, or else to stand & bee in full force, power, effect and vertue.
