In the Name of God Amen I Seth Sothell of the County
of Albemarle within ye province of Carolina Esqr being (Showing
Mercy) of perfect Mind and Memory, Doe ordaine and
Make this my last Will and Testament in Maner and
Forme Following
Imps [Imprimis]
I give and bequeath unto my Loving Friends Francis
Hartley the plantation where he Now dwells for the
Tearme of Five yeares which is to Commence from the day
of my death and Two Thirds of my Signory bounding
on Flatty Creeke and Pascotank River for and during
the Naturall Lives of him the said Francis Hartley and
his Wife her heires and assignes for ever.

I Give and Bequeath to Edward Foster Esqr my Father
in Law all that my Plantation at Cuscopinum to him
his heires and assignes for ever and Thirty head of Cattle
belonging to the Said Plantation & one negroe Man

I give unto William Duckinfield Esqr Five pounds to buy
him a Gold Ring Item I give unto William Wilkeson
five pounds to buy him a Gold Ring: Item I give unto Mr
Henderson Walker five pounds to buy him a Gold Ring

Item I Give unto Edward Wade all that my Plantation where Mr
Thomas Evins now dwells in Little River to him & his assigns
for and Dureing his Naturall life and after his discease
to Anna Sothell my Wife her heires & entirely welbeloved
Wife Anna Blunt all my Lands Plantations tennaments
and Hereditaments which I Now save ( in ye Province of Carolina
Adjoyning or Bounding on Salmon Creek Kendricks Creeke
Little River, Flatty Creeke and the River of Pascotank
to her the Said Anna Sothell her heires & assignes for
ever: excepting the Tearme of Five years ^(to mr Hartley and) that the Sd
Mr Hartley and his Wife and mr Edward Wade may hold
all the Lands above bequeathed to them for their Naturall lives
and the Said Anna my Wife to have it in Reversion
and I Give and Bequeath unto the above Named Anna
