Albemarle Know all men by These presents that Wee John Bentley Richard Bentley and William Bentley doe by these presents clearely and abso =lutely Requitt release exonerate and discharge Cornelious Serry Administrator of ye Estate of Richard Bentley late of this County of Albemarle deseased: his heires Executors and Administrators of and from all and all Manner of Actions: debts acctts[accounts] Suites Claims & demands so far due or that may any wayes hereafter become due unto us ye Said John Bentley Richard Bentley or Wm Bentley upon ye accot of the said Estate except an accott of Sixteene shillings being ye full Ballance of the Said Estate due unto us ye said John Bentley Richard Bentley and Wm Bentley from ye Said Cornelious Serry Witnes our hands and Seales the 17th day of November Anno Do: 1693 John Bentley [seal]

Carolina In the Name of God Amen F Robert Smith of Pequmans Precinct in ye Province above Written; being Sick & Weake of Body yet of Perfect Sence and Memory praised be God and knowing the Certainty of Death doe make and appoint this for my last Will and Testament In Manner Following First I give & Recommend my Soul to ye protection of ye Almighty who gave it me & when it shall please him to call me out of this life I Recommend my Body to ye dust & grave to be decently [crossed out] Inter =ed at ye discretion of my Executors after Named and as to my Temporat Estate: God hath Left mee I will & Dispose thereof as Followeth: After my Funerall Charges & debts are Sattisfied & paid I give and bequeath unto my Son Joseph Smith and my Daughter Eliza =beth Smith all & Sundry my whole Estate reall & personall to be equally divided betwixt them so Soone as either of them comes to age if they please, to be enjoyed by them & their heirs for ever excepting the Legacyes after Named. If either of the above Named Children by the pleasure of God be cald out of this life before they Attane to age which i appoint to be ye 18th year of their age: Then I will ye Survivor to have and possess my whole estate above said And if it please God that Both of them dye then I will ye estate be equally divided betwixt (my) Two Friends after Named Oversers of the Children.

I will and appoint my Son Joseph Smith to be with and to be under the care and Tuition of John Godfrey to be educated by him and provided for Sutable to his quallity he doing Such Service to ye Said John Godfrey or his Wife Elizabeth Godfrey till he arive at the age above said as they shall think good to employ him in : Likewise I will and appoint my Daughter Elizabeth Smith to be under the care and Tuition of William Godfrey to be educated by him and employed in Suta ble Service untill She be of age. I give [crossed out] appoint and bequeath unto my Son in Law Samuel Wood my Fowling peece And desier my Executor after Named forthwith after my Funerall Rites are Accomplished to give him possession there of. In the Name of God Amen I Seth Sothell of the County of Albemarle within ye province of Carolina Esqr being (Showing Mercy) of perfect Mind and Memory, Doe ordaine and Make this my last Will and Testament in Maner and Forme Following Imps [Imprimis] I give and bequeath unto my Loving Friends Francis Hartley the plantation where he Now dwells for the Tearme of Five yeares which is to Commence from the day of my death and Two Thirds of my Signory bounding on Flatty Creeke and Pascotank River for and during the Naturall Lives of him the said Francis Hartley and his Wife her heires and assignes for ever.

Item I Give and Bequeath to Edward Foster Esqr my Father in Law all that my Plantation at Cuscopinum to him his heires and assignes for ever and Thirty head of Cattle belonging to the Said Plantation & one negroe Man

Item I give unto William Duckinfield Esqr Five pounds to buy him a Gold Ring Item I give unto William Wilkeson five pounds to buy him a Gold Ring: Item I give unto Mr Henderson Walker five pounds to buy him a Gold Ring

Item I Give unto Edward Wade all that my Plantation where Mr Thomas Evins now dwells in Little River to him & his assigns for and Dureing his Naturall life and after his discease to Anna Sothell my Wife her heires & entirely welbeloved Wife Anna Blunt all my Lands Plantations tennaments and Hereditaments which I Now save ( in ye Province of Carolina Adjoyning or Bounding on Salmon Creek Kendricks Creeke Little River, Flatty Creeke and the River of Pascotank to her the Said Anna Sothell her heires & assignes for ever: excepting the Tearme of Five years ^(to mr Hartley and) that the Sd Mr Hartley and his Wife and mr Edward Wade may hold all the Lands above bequeathed to them for their Naturall lives and the Said Anna my Wife to have it in Reversion and I Give and Bequeath unto the above Named Anna Sothell Sothell my Wife

Whereas Anna Sothell hath upon the 5th day of February Ano Di 1693 in open Court proved ye above written to be the last will Testament of Seth Soth[ell] esqr her deceased husband And shee being thereby constituted to be executrix of the Same These are to impower The Said Anna Sothell to take into her posses sion all & every the estate of the said Seth Sothell wher ever in the Governmt to be found and the Same to dispose of according to the intent and Meaning of the Said last will and testament. Doe hereby impower the above menconed Rich Stivell to adminis= ter upon all and singular ye Goods Chattells & Creditts of the sd Eliz Crosland of what nature or quality soever wherever in this Governmt to be found and the Same to be dispose of as by the sd Will is appointed.
