[text on left hand side] III he liked it on there. Most of the men we bring back says it's a lot better than a trans[p?]ort.

I heard J.W. Dickenson was back also. Cleo said she met him that day and he said she saw my ship in Tol[???] Bay. I didn't see his, But there ^[???] so many destroyers you can't tell [one?] from the other. If you don't get close enough to see the number.

Say how is Sam and his girl getting along now. Tell him to send me some pictures of some of them. I don't think I know some of them you mention.

[text on right hand side] II today. I had a letter from you today. You said Eugene Mitchell Came back on my s[hip?]. I don't hardly see how I could have missed him. But there's so many of them that it's hard to find every-one. He might have seen me and not known me. I guess [I's?] changed a little since he went in the Navy. I think I would know him. They say we are getting out of this "Magic Carpet," deal pretty soon now.

Well, guess I'll close now and get this off before the last mail goes off. Tell all [k?ells]!

Lots of love + good luck, Ernie

Hello [Mom?],

How is every one this time? I am all O.K. as usual.

Well, as [begin cross out] usual [end crossed out] you can see we are still in Saip[o? a?] n. And the [worst?] part is we still don't know when we leave.

Some says it will be 2 more weeks yet.

Boy, I sure hope its not that long. For [me?] thing it's too hot.

looks like I would at least have seen him in the "Chow hall-" If I had known he was [???] here I could have saved him from standing in the chow line so long.

Well mom, I guess I had better [finish?] this off as the lights go out in 10 min. Good nite + lots of luck! Tell all [bells?] Love, Ernie

[right side of paper] II and another thing is, I would like very much to go back to D[iego?], "Boy! is she cute"! ha! [underlined "ha"]

I had another letter from you to day, also one from Mary. She says Fred [expects?] to be out by May.

At the rate the points are going it will be on in the summer; I guess, before I get out.

Some guys are [soo?] lucky to have those extra 10 points.

If I was married I would get
