Rooms of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
826 Broadway
May 28. 1866.

Dear Sir.

I have purposely delayed replying to your note of the 23rd inst in order to investigate the subject of which it treats, namely cruelty to Turtles. Mr Bergh has communicated with the parties engaged in importing and shipping these animals, and has taken the necessary steps to ultimately suppress the barbarous practices to which you refer.

In the meantime the Society thanks you for calling its notice to the matter, and as it aims at enrolling among its members all those, who like yourself.
