several bills which the Society had before the Legislature viz

1. An act . Providing for the [illegible] of property in certain cases.

This bill had passed the Assembly Jan 29. 1875 78 Ayes 4 nays

2. An Act for the better enforcement of certain penal laws.

3. An act for the prevention of disease among Animals.

4. An act to prevent injury to Animals in New York.

Mr Gerry stated that great influence was being used to prevent the passage of these bills.

He also referred to a bill which had been introduced by a Mr Muller providing that arrests for violations of the Laws for the prevention of cruelty to Animals should be made by members of the Police Force alone.

Also to a hill which had been introduced, independent of the Society, prohibiting the use of salt on the streets for the purpose of melting the snow and ice.

Also to the several bills now before the Legislature referring to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

3 Mr Gerry called attention to the aggressive attacks which several of the Newspaper had recently been making against the Society and Mr Bergh and to the silent attitude which the "Times" had taken.

He moved that a Committee of three be appointed by the Chair to interview the Editor and Manager of the Times newspaper to [ascertain?] if possible, the reason of its silence, as the
