My mama ask me if I did not want to join the tomato club. It was April then and she said it was rather late, but she would let me have a plot in the garden if I wanted to join. So I told her I would try it, papa hand manure and plowed it in the widnter. So I planted two rows of beans and one in okra and the balance of the plot in tomato plants that my grand-mother game me. I hoed the plants and set my work down in my report book and gathered the fruit and always looked for insect on the plants. One day I noticed the beans were being eaten off and the tomato plants and then next day the same with another. Mama said for me to examine the plant careful and I would find a worm some where and sure enought I found

a great big green warm [worm].

Mama and I have caned 100 cans of tomatoes 4 of okra and 4 of okra and tomaotes, and 12 glass jars of tomatoes, okra and corn togather for soup. We have caned twenty five cans of corn, six of peaches. I had quite a lot of early beans, after they were past [clause crossed out] after they were past I planted the ground in beans in [crossed out] again we have caned sixteen cans off of the second crop of beans. And will have a lot more if frast [frost] dose [does] not come soon. My tomatoes ptants are pretty and green and are full of large gun [?] tomatoes, and mama said if frost comes soon we will make chowchow out of the green tomatoes. I can seel all my caned good and more too if I had it. I am only 12 years old and never

did any club work before but I like it and will stay in next year as papa has promised me a plot for my own use and I will know more about it. I think I would like to belong to the poultry could. My mama belongs to the womans club at our school house. Our agent told us that next summer she wants to put up a certin no. of fare to exhibit at the county fair and she'll give a prize for the best exhibit.

My plat of land is one tenth of an acre it has a black loam soil and a red substail. My plants [crossed out] My plants were very poor looking when I set them out but was all I could get they were most all of them the acre. The width of of rows were four feet.
