The following mixtures for tobacco, taken from Bulletin No 122 of the North Carolina Experiment Station are said to make good formulas for home-mixing:

(1) A strong mixture using cottonseed meal:

Acid phosphate 1,100 lbs.
Sulphate of potash 200 lbs.
Cottonseed meal 600 lbs.
Nitrate of soda 100 lbs.
2,000 lbs.

(2) A cheap but good compost:

Acid phosphate 750 lbs
Sulphate of potash 150 lbs
Nitrate of soda 100 lbs
Stable manure 1,000 lbs
2,000 lbs.

(3) Fine horse or cow manure, rich mould or similar material 900 lbs
Acid phosphate or dissolved bone 600 lbs
High grade sulphate potash 150 lbs
Fish scrap, cottonseed meal or tankage 350
2,000 lbs.
