17 Oct 17th Sea account passed Boston Light discharged Pilot studding -- sails low & aloft fine pleasant breezes & pleasant in company with several sail, smooth sea latter part cloudy. ---

18 18th first part fine breezes & passing clouds all sail set middle cloudy all sail set [STRUCK OUT: at 8 a. m. tacked to the SSW] latter part fresh winds & rainy.

19 19th first part fresh winds from the NW to pleasant all sail set middle cloudy fresh breezes all sail set at 8 a.m. tacked to SSW latter part rainy fresh winds light sails in at 10 tacked to East

20 20th first part fresh winds from the SE & raining at 2 P.M. wind from the NW firm breeze & cloudy at 6 calm at 8 fresh breeze from the NW clouds broken all sail set middle fresh winds & passing cloudy studding sails in at 12 furled M. Royal. No obs. [OBSERVATION]

21 first part fresh winds from the North canting to the East all sail set at 11 P.M. double reafed topsails. fresh gales from the NNE & heavy sea at 4 a.m. furled M sail. heavy gales & heavy rain. Middle to latter part fresh gales & heavy rains sea foamy all directions. No obs. [OBSERVATION]

22 first part fresh gales & heavy rain at 11 p.m. heavy gales & rain furled Fore-sail closed reafed topsails furled F topsail & fore topmast staysail hove too under close reafed M topsail & M Spencer, very heavy gale very thick & rainy at 4 a.m.more moderate set double reafed topsails & fore sail at 8 set gib mainsail and spanker bad sea. Latter part fresh gales to passing clouds no obs [OBSERVATION]

23 first part fresh gales & cloudy decks full of water at 10 p.m. double reafed topsails, bad sea. Middle fresh gales & cloudy bad cross sea. Latter part more moderate. No obs. [OBSERVATION]

24 First part moderate & cloudy at 4 p.m. set whole topsails & top gallant sails. Nearly calm. Middle squally variable breezes furled F topG sail at 8 a.m. set all sail by the wind fresh breezes & passing clouds gulf weed in abundance bad sea from the NE.

25 First part fresh winds & passing clouds braced by the wind middle fresh gales & rainy, close reafed. Latter part fresh gales & heavy squalls from the south.

26 First part fresh gales to heavy squalls from the south few flying fish & plenty of Gulf weed.
