No 1 A Journal of the most Remarkable events kept by - Barns burnt 1797 Obed Macy

1799 1st day As there is nothing remarkable taken place today I shall only make observations on the time past. Cold blustering weather set early with accompanied with a number of Storms which many have suffered Shipwreck, one belonging a schooner own[ed] by Richard Chadwick & Lo_ Chasley, People & part of the Cargo saved, on Fishers Island Ledge; two other strangers cast ashore at back of the Great Point. 2- Yesterday night a Snow storm Nathan Long has arrived at the Vineyard from Woolrich Bay full Ship. 3 Cold Snow Storm nearly the whole day 5th Susanna Pinkham Wife of John Died Suddenly this morning about 10 o'clock The weather is very cold, by the Thermometer Te Mercury is down to 2. the Ice makes very hard the ground covered with snow. 6th - A Cold Snow Storm; the harbour shut up with Ice 8th - The Ice has made out a little beyond the Bar so that we are blockated as to news or any Articles that usually comes from far, As to domestic affairs nothing uncommon 10th The Weather is very fine, Wind at SW Ice inland melts very fast. 11th The weather still moderate the Sea is gone as far as Brant Point, the Snow is near by gone. Jedidah Gardner Widow of Robert Died this Evening _____ at Robert Gordons Aged 83
