Considering the uncommon mildness
of the weather the fore
part of winter, & the remarkable roughness
of the latter, the contrast has a material
effect on the human System.

8th. 2 o/m [OF MONTH].
A snow storm set in the latter part of
the night, and continued snowing during
the day following, accompanied with a heavy
gale at NE. It appeared there was
nearly as much snow fell during the storm
as ever was known at one time

9th. Great number Sleighs running.

10th. Weather Pleasant wind SW. Sleighing bad,
but a large number running.

11th Wind came at NW. In the night
blew tremendously & the weather very cold

12th. Therm. at 4° above.
The harbour full of ice as far out as the Bar
No passing to or from the [CONTINENT?] for
some time. A number of Mails due

The weather has been such of late
that very little business could be done,
except it was in-doors.

There appears to be plenty of Wood
& Provisions, but many are scant of
the means to procure them

The Price of Wood 6.50 4.50 Price
Flour 7$. Corn 65. Oil in its
Raw state. 66 to 68 dull, but quick at
Market at a good profit -- Candles dull at 22 Cts [CENTS]

Charles E Macy went with Shubl. [SHUBAEL] Allen for Provd [PROVIDENCE]
to go to Frds [FRIENDS] boarding school. In the & evening a heavy
storm came on, which retarded their progress
and lengthened to 7 days, before they arri'd [ARRIVED] at Provce. [PROVIDENCE]
