Whaling concerns, & embarking more largely
in commercial Interests. If this should be
the case the price of country produce rise
without detriment to the interest of the business
of this place, as it is probable in that event
the price of Oil would not lessen, & likely would
increase.

12th. 1 o/m [OF MONTH].
All kinds of country produce is plenty &
generally cheap. -- Flour has arisen $1.25 P [PER] barl [BARREL].
The price now is 7$ P [per] bar [BARREL]. Corn southern
70 Cents. Fresh Pork 7 Cts. [CENTS] Beef 31/2 to 4 P [PER] &
Hundreds of dead sheep have brot. [BROUGHT] from
Boston & sold from 1 1/4 Cts. P [PER] Do [DITTO] to 3 - Molasses
by retail 33 Cts. -- Wood 6$ plenty
Raw oil 74 Cts. At market winter 90

12th. 1 o/m [OF MONTH].
Strong wind at N.W. & getting cold very rapidly.
There is every appearance of a cold spell.

13th.
Thermr [THERMOMETER]. at 11° this morning. The Ice
begin to make round the shore.
At night the cold continues.

14th.
By the effects of the cold, we may judge of
temperature of the weather. This morning
the harbour was frozen all over, & mostly out
to the Bar. -- At night the cold slacks
a little, & the clouds in the SW. donate a
fall of snow at hand.

The harbor is now become impassible

15th. 1 o/m [OF MONTH].
This mornig wind at NE began to spit of snow,
& appears likely to be a great snow storm.
As the day advanced, the storm increased, by 10 AM,
it blew a gale, & the snow was in depth two feet
deep. The tide was up about 2 PM, at which time
it was a tremendous snow storm.
