First part ship laying off and on
at Lord Hows Island [LORD HOWE'S ISLAND]. Took off 5 boats
loads of wood. Midle [MIDDLE] part laying
off and on. Latter part went in with
cash for water. Took them off to the
ship at noon. So ends.

Sund [SUNDAY]
Dec [DECEMBER] 28th
First part laying off and at the Island
took off some potatoes and the [THEN] put
to sea. Midle [MIDDLE] part under short sail
Wind from the eastward. Ship stearing S. East.
Latter part saw two sails and the
land. One man deserted us and [THIP?]
yesterday at the island. 31 47 158 45

Mond [MONDAY]
Dec [DECEMBER] 29th
First part brisk breezes from N. East
Ship stearing E.S. East. At 3 PM spoke
ship Louisanah [LOUISIANA] New Bedford, 40 months, 1100.
Midle [MIDDLE] part and latter stearing east
and N. West. Saw two sails. 31 50 159 16

Dec [DECEMBER] 30th
First part brisk breezes from N.N. East
Ship stearing East. Midle [MIDDLE] part and latter
tacking about the island. Lat [LATITUDE] 21 50 159 15

Wedns [WEDNESDAY]
Dec [DECEMBER] 31st
First part ship near the Pyramid [BALL'S PYRAMID]
Saw three sails near Lord Howes Island.
Midle [MIDDLE] part tacked ship. Latter part
saw blackfish lored [LOWERED] the boats and
got one. Saw the islands. Three sails
off and on at the island Lat [LATITUDE]

Janua [JANUARY] 1st 1857
First part brisk breezes. Ship
stearing S. East by the wind. At sunset
shortened sail. Midle [MIDDLE] part tacked
to the north. Latter part made all
sail. Saw the land. Lat [LATITUDE] 31 40 158 45
