THE READER'S DIGEST PLEASANTVILLE - NEW YORK

May 8, 1958

Mr. Francis X. Keashen 609 E. Locust Avenue Philadelphia 44, Pennsylvania

Dear Mr. Keashen:

Many thanks for your interesting letter and how you felt about D-Day.

I am sure that when Mr. Ryan returns from Europe, he will be most interested in your thoughts which are so admirably expressed.

I know he will be in Philadephia interviewing other people sometime within the next few months, and I am sure that at that time he will want to interview you. Meanwhile would you be good enough to fill out this questionnaire so that he can prepare for that interview.

Yours very sincerely,

Frances Ward Research Department

Mrs Frances Ward 230 Park Ave N.Y. N.Y.

Dear Mrs Ward, on April 11, 1958 I forwarded to your attention, a story of D-Day. On May 7, 1958, a representative from your office called on phone and requested an interview concerning the submitted story. The appointment was made for May 8, 1958. On May 9, your office called again and apologged for not keeping the appointment of May 8 and I was informed that your office would call again the week of May 19. Silence since then. Is it possible for me to find out the results of the Contest? A postal card will do, without apologies or additional phone calls.

Very Truly Yours Francis X. Keashen

Mr. Ryan - please note.

September 24, 1958

Mr. Francis X. Keashen 609 East Locust Avenue Philadelphia 44, Pennsylvania

Dear Mr. Keashen:

Thank you for your letter of the 22nd. I am afraid that, in fact, an apology is very muoh due--though perhaps no more to you than to several hundred other people who have also reason to wonder about the current status of the D-day book.

Actually I cannot tell you anything definite. Mr. Ryan has been delayed somewhat, first by family concerns and then by the overwhelming mass of material he had to deal with, and so is now both writing and interviewing people in the U. S. Since l shall be leaving this office in two weeks and since the project is virtually out of our hands now anyway, I suggest that you direct any further correspondence to Mr. Ryan at 230 East 48th Street. However, I am forwarding your letter to him, and expect that you will hear from him soon.

Sincerely yours,

Frances Ward
