The officers that we shouldn't have a diary

Were any of your friends killed or wounded either during the landing or
during the day? Yes.

Do you remember any conversations you had with them before they became
casualties?
We were on the move so fast
that I don't remember of any conversation

Were you wounded? Yes
I was wounded twise the 6th of July 1944 and [illegible]

Do you remember what it was like--that is, do you remember whether you
felt any pain or were you so surprised that you felt nothing?
I got hit with shrapnel a few places
on my body a piece went threw thigh of
my leg and it felt like a hammer hit and after wards
it felt numb
Do you remember seeing or hearing anything that seems funny now, even
though it did not, of course, seem amusing at the time? No.

Do you recall any incident, sad or heroic, or simply memorable, which struck
you more than anything else?
When we got to shore with the
landing craft there was two landing
boats that hit something and they exploded
in the air. and I seen some of them swiming
in water and hollering for help.
