- for Cornelius Ryan 3 -

Your name John Polyniak

In times of great crisis, people generally show either great ingenuity or
self-reliance; others do incredibly stupid things. Do you remember any
examples of either from D-day?
We had a Navy officer to direct fire from the ships off shore
and it was amazing how he was able to get and direct
accurate fire on the targets. Especially one which was a
church steeple which had spotter that was directing German
fire from Vill Sur Mer and he was able to direct fire
and hit it by his direction from shore to ship.
