Dear Miss Ward: I have read in a recent Coast Guard Publication of your request that Coast Guard Personnel Participating in Normandy D Day Operation make contact with your office. I served abord a Coast Guard Landing Craft LCI (L) 319 as a Watch Office. LCI (L) 319 carried elements of the 4th Division landing them on UTAH beach on the morning of June 6. The vessel was assigned to Fire Fighting and Salvage Beach Utah and OMAHA. This duty lasted for approx 21 days returning to England after the Storm. If I can be of assistance to you in this work or in locating other personnel I shall be happy to do so upon request. Very truly yours Lt Arthur E. Fanning USCGR-R
