Written in a small Gothic script in 2 columns of 31 lines,
upon very thin vellum. Brown and red ink. Ruled in plummet.
2 line initials are executed alternately in red and blue on
fields of pen flourishes of the other color. Headings in red.
Large margins.

Book 2 is entitled "Concerning The Creation and Formation of
Corporeal and Spiritual Things Together with Other Pertinent
Matters." 44 Distinctions. Distinctions 12-15 treat of
the work of the 6 days of Creation.

Peter Lombard's Book of Sentences, written in Paris between
1145 and 1150, presents the whole of Christian doctrine divided
into 4 main sections, or "Books" It attained immense popularity,
eventually becoming the principal textbook in almost every
theological school and inspiring endless glosses and commentaries.
1st Paris printed ed - 1508.
Although this influential book was written in Paris, by
a Paris Theologian (who became Bishop of that city) and
enjoyed its greatest popularity in Paris, there seems to
have been no ed. in Paris before this. (10 March 1508)
This theological handbook is primarily a collection of opinions
of the fathers of the Church, arranged on the basis of the
aphorisms of Augustine, the author's favorite authority.
It is divided into 4 main books, 1st [?teaching?] of God,
the 2nd of the Creation and Sin, the 3rd of the Incarnation
and the Virtues and the 4th of the Sacraments and the 4 Last things
This work became the standard textbook of Catholic
Theology during the Middle Ages.
