Lavalrum conscientian is generally attributed to J. de
Gruytrode, an ascetic + prior of the Charterhouse of
the 12 Apostles (near Liege). In this small treatise
the author considers the moral + philosophical
questions to which the human conscionce might be
confronted.

Schreiber - G. Bottiger was not very productive but brought out
some richly illustrated books such as Auslegung der
Misse + the Historie von vier Kaufleuten both 1495.
Among the larger towns in Germany, Leipzig
was one of the last in which the art of printing
was introduced.

Popular handbook for priest's - deals inter alia c
alms, benefices + concubinage + includes a few curious
anecdotes on women. The work has sometimes been
ascribed to J. de Gruytrode who has been identified
as Jacobus de Clesa, born near Jutersbog (hence
also called Jacobus de Jutersbog.) around 1381.
He was at first a Cistercian + later entered the
more rigid Carthusian Order at Erfurt where he
died in 1465.
