The works of Pare were written in French & later transl. into
(1582) Latin. The Latin ed. is poor & it is unfortunate that the only
English transl. which was made by Thomas Johnson (d.1644)
depends upon this.

He knew no Latin & his works were 1st published in French ; the 1st
collected ed of his works was published in Paris in 1579. His
pupil Guillemeau edited the 1st Latin ed. published in Paris in 1582.
