Cloudy, but 85[?] -- PM at Gold Hill -- Interviewed George A Blewett, blacksmith, Lower Gold Hill, on life insurance & think I will get him for about $5,000 -- Bed 12 -- Blewett took me to his residence & I had quite a long & pleasant chat with his wife, formerly Miss Mamie Wright-Butler --

Tuesday July 31

Hot -- cloudy -- Took morning train to Reno -- Arrived at 11:15 -- Rode with Dr Bugstein in buggy out to County Hospital, couple of miles from town to see WH Joy,

Variable & cooler -- Back to Carson at 10 AM -- laid over -- Was about town & at Mint, etc -- Evening train to Va -- went to theater -- "Ishavogue" JM Ward, Carrie Clarke Ward & good Co -- POOr house -- Bed at 12 -- Trial of John L Black for murder of his brother Monday & Tuesday -- Jury returned last evening, & at noon today discharged,
