Dear Ma.

Did not write sooner as
I was waiting for that treat Del
wrote about it was certainley swell.
So you thought the picture looked
funny, well it does somewhat as
I told you I was nicely colored and
the sun bleaches your eye brows
till they nearly get white. Some
day I will get a good picture
then you can discard that one.

The soap and tobacco just got
here in time as I was low on
both.

Del asked about my shield on
my blouse maybe in a few month
I will have one as a second
shell man in a gun crew. I had
some funny luck. I met a fellow
here who is in charge of the sail loft
and asked what were the chance of
getting in. He said I would have
to get a recomendation.
