61Monday Oct. 15 '17. Convoy from Fere en Tardinois to Bucy le Long. Had to walk back from [Loupeign?] for another car for Ben. No 7 went on the [burn? bum?]. Very heavy frost. The water in the radiators was frozen. Some job to get the cars started. Was in charge of the convoy. Saw a wonderful sight at Bucy. Was looking at a sausage that was nearly above us. I was very surprised to see both observers jump out. As soon as their parashute [parachut] opened I looked above the baloon [balloon] and saw the Boche plane. The sausage first wilted a little then fire started at one end. Soon the whole baloon [balloon] was in flames. The | 61 |
