Palo Alto had received a like
dose of cardinal.
I had resolved to study all day
Tuesday (which Dr. Jordan
had declared a holiday) but
temptation came along in
the shape of a drive up the
Santa Cruz Mts. [words "in the shape of" crossed out]
to the snow line, and I
fell... A party of eleven went
from the hall. We drove up
the mountain twelve miles
and we were only a few miles from
La Howda and came back
via Woodside and Redwood City.
It was one of the finest trips
that I ever took. The scenery was
magnificent. We were out in
a genuine snowstorm. Had
lots of fun snowballing. We
also took a board along and
coasted down hill. I went down
