Saturday afternoon

Dear Lela:

I will try and write you
a few lines if I don ot go to
sleep doing it. We are getting up
at five-fifteen in the morning
now and taps does not blow
until ten thierty. Of course we
can go to bed earlier than
that but there is no chance
getting to sleep with the bunch
of corporals there is in the tent
ojne of us will test an argument
and it generally lasts until taps.
These new men must be
used to getting us with the
checkers as they are usually
ax about from thirty founding
up and down the street. Believe
me they will soon get out of
that habit after they have been
in the army xxx
