stopping for lunch - Evening about town a little but went to bed at John
Wolmering's lodging house at 10:30, tired - Sent a postal card to wife by train this
evening, telling her where I am, etc - Carson is looking beautifully at present,
Capitol Square especially, with luxuriant trees, shrubbery flowers, etc - One big
picnic ground - Capitol Square the most [baath, letters scratched over] beautiful spot of its size in the State of Nevada-

Sunday July 1
Clear warm and pleasant - started in again at Controllers at 10 AM & worked very
diligently without cessation till 6 PM - Slept at Wolmerings again at 11 -
Monday July 2
Same - Commenced again at 10 and at 4:30 got through - left on 5:10 [///] PM local
train for Va, arr at 7 - good dinner - Went to Opera House - About 2/3 of a house-
Very good entertainment - Mrs Bowers seems as good as she was a dozen years ago
when she was here last - Bed at 1 - US Marshal Thos E kelly died suddenly at noon at his house on a street from heart disease - About 50 years old - Wife died of same disease a few weeks ago - Leave 6 children, youngest about 4 -
