16his residence he has bought from Scotty Cone -- The Big Fair Day -- "Battle of Manila" -- 1898 Friday Sept 23 Clear & very pleasant -- Culmination of the State Fair -- Biggest crowd & best time yet at the grounds -- Bicycle racing in addition to horse racing -- This being "Reno Day" most of the stores closed & all attended the Fair -- Evening a huge pyrotechnic panoramic spectacular show entitled "Battle of Manila" given at the race track -- $1 admission -- I didn't attend, but big crowds did.
