morning from last evening's storm - First of approaching Winter --

Wednesday Sept 28

Clear & pleasant -- Met Paul Coryell of Troop M Nevada Cavalry, now encamped in Florida with 2 other Comstock soldiers just arrived on a furlough -- They looked fine, and as if well treated --

Thursday Sept 29

Got my old shoes new heeled for 50 cts -- Morning wrote & sent a 3 page letter, No 3, to Wells Herald, and evening a 4 page letter to Gardnerville Record to send in morning -- Bed 2:30 -- cold --

Friday Sept 30

Stormy -- AM strong W wind & clouds of dust -- PM cloudy with light showers, cold -- Sent my Record letter this morning -- Bed 10 -- partly clear -- foothills white with snow-- cold night -- frosty --

Variable & cool -- Heavy white frost this morning and the mountain ranges on all sides were white with snow, including the foothills of the old Sierra Nevada -- Yesterday's Wells Herald did not contain my letter I sent Thursday morning -- Think it was sent too late -- for their publication -- Evening attended formation of McMillan Republican Club at the Court
