the exault of my inspection of [?]

'Fish-pass' [?] there for the purpose of
carrying fish over that chasm/dam.
The [?] river is a large stream and flows through
an [?] section of the Country,
with several branches, and enters
Lake Huron at the town of Southhampton.
About three miles above its entrance
into the [?], a dam has been built
[?] the river to raise ahead of water
for driving a flouring mill :- this
dam forms a sufficient barrier to
prevent many of the fish from passing
up river to their [?excessive] feeding,
and breeding points on the {?Massi}
river, and many of its branches -
This dam is known as "[Derevier?] dam" and from representations made
to your Department some years back
