" Mr Kirkland haveing {brought} with him an Indian man, called Thomas a Deacon of the Church & represented to the Board, that he has since {January} last, acted as a Catechist & Shoolmaster among the Indians & that he bears an extreme good Character for Understanding & Piety ,
Voted, that he be allowed Twenty pounds Sterling {per annum} until further Order, he continuing to perform the Services aforesaid -- "

This Corporation heartily rejoyce in the agreeable Prospect that opens of enlarging the Redeemers kingdom & of carrying the Gospel to those [Friendly?] of Indians, who have for so long a time & all in Darkness & readily joyn with the Commissioners in promoting this excellent Design & accordingly it was

Voted 1. That the Corporation agree to the Appointment of the {reverend} Mr Samuel Kirkland to be a Missionary at Oneida.

Voted 2. That one {hundred pounds Sterling} is a Reasonable Allowance to Mr. Kirkland, for one years Salary & that he be allowed & paid out of {Doctor} Williams' Donation to the College one half the [L'd?] Sum for this
year, commencing the 4th October last Viz {L50-- Sterling --}

Voted 3. That the Corporation agree to the Sum of {L30 Sterling per annum} to be given to Mr Kirkland, in consideration of his pains & expence in acquiring the Indian Language, so as to carry on religious Worship without the help of an Interpreter & that one half of each Sum Viz. {L75 --?] be allowed to him out of {Doctor} Williams Donation to the College, the {said} Allowance to continue till further Order ~
