Sunday 31 (12th after Trinity)

Rain during night but fine morning. Mrs Fennimore kept her word & sent her husband to cut down the two last branches off the big loquat & I gave her armfuls of arums, parsley fern, one of my big black lilies and the French marigolds & white daisy. In afternoon Lillaine rang to thank me for the wedding presents - enthusiastic about the lace. Dal called in for a couple of hours & I froze: it did not aid my chill.
