The Senate met and was constituted.

Sederunt Principal Snodgrass, Professors
Williamson, Mowat, and Ferguson.

The minutes of the meeting held on
23d inst. were read and approved.

a conversazione
discountenanced
[/margin]

There was read a letter from Mr. W.
A. Lang on behalf of a Committee of the
Alma Mater Society desiring an expression
of the views of the Senate on the holding
of a Conversazione at the close of the
present session, whereupon it was unanimously
resolved as follows: Inasmuch
as the Trustees have resolved to give a banquet
at the close of the present session,
it is in the opinion of the Senate inadvisable
that the Alma Mater Society arrange
for a Conversazione this year. The
members of the Senate will deem it to be
their duty to confine to the former any
assistance they may have it in their power
to render, and to keep the College buildings
disengaged so that they may be subject
exclusively to any orders which may
come from the Trustees. It will gratify
the Senate to be informed that the Trustees
may be assured of the Alma Mater
Society's hearty cooperation with them
in the endeavour to make the proposal
