them, if those people are not warned of such dangers.
It is a great source of suffering for the poor people
who live where such things happen, since it
is impossible to know when the storm might come,
so that they might escape it. But the wise men who fear
to die arm themselves against death and diligently
seek to reconcile themselves with the Sovereign
Judge of their sins and faults, according to their
law and their belief that they should
live like those who have neither day nor hour nor
place to live in health and ease. This is what the
water and the wind do to create the movements
by which [the earth] cracks and quakes.

Now I want to tell you how sea water
becomes salty. It is so bitter than no one
can drink it, neither man nor beast. The reason
comes from the sun on high. For it is so hot
in some places that the sea
