For and in consideration of the benefits, to be
derived from the location of the "University of the
South
at Sewanee' in Franklin County Tennessee,
I do hereby release, relinquish, and surrender to the
said University all the right, title, interest and claim
which I have in and to the five thousand acres of land
which has been given to said University by the Sewanee
Mining Company
, but retaining to myself the rest of
the five thousand acre tract lying eastwardly
of the lands of the University of the South as surveyed
by D. R. Barney Engineer.

For a more particular discription of said land
reference is here made to the contract or deed between
the Sewanee Mining Company and the Trustees of
the University of the South
in relation thereto, and
which for that purpose is made a part hereof.
