25: with moderate breeze North. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Barometer 30.10. Keeper showing twenty three visitors in the Tower. 1st asst went to Newport after supplies. 2nd asst also went to Newport after mail & supplies.

26: Fresh and strong breeze North these 24 hours fair and happy weather. Sea little rough. General duties for the day. Keeper and assts showing visitors in the Tower. Had thirty two visitors. BArometer 29.95.

27: Strong & fresh breeze thse 24 hours with fair weather. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper went to Newport after supplies. 1st and 2nd assts showing visitors in the Tower . Had nineteen visitors. Barometer town to 29.80.

28: Strong and fresh breeze North with thick damp fog first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze N. fog & fair weather. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. 1st asst showing two visitors in the Tower. Barometer 29.90 to 29.70 today.

29: Fresh and moderate breeze to light North wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours ehick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours fine weather. Keep & assts showing thirteen visitors in the Tower. Barometer 29.80. 2nd asst went to Newport after supplies.

30: Light South to North wind these 24 hours with thick damp fog. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper went to Newport after supplies. 1st asst showing five visitors in the Tower. Barometer down to 29.90 to 29.88. [NOTE: in the margin to left of 28, 29, 30 entries: "Inspected August 1st 1898" with a signature??? "Commander??? Inspection"]

31: Light North wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours thick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours heigh dry fog. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Schooner Kate & Anna is anchored near the cape. Barometer 29.82. 1st asst went to Newport & fishing. Had 6 visitors. U.S. LIght House tender Manzanita is laying off Yaquina bar at 5 p.m. waiting to enter Newport .
