Brethren, Youth and friends,
Auspicious are the circumastances in many respects
in which we celebrate this anniversary. A short time
since we cemented over the ashes of the first public building
erected by the venerable founders of this Academy.
Now, we are assembled in this large, commodious and
handsome edifice, which has arisen from
its ashes. Corresponding in size with the increased
number of students in this flourishing institution; &
with the noble ublic buildings of the later and higher
Seminary for Theological education is this new edifice.
The former was dedicated to the service of God, and our
country. To God and our country we now dedicate this.
Here may successive and increased bodies of our youth,
for generations yet to come, even to the latest period
of time, be taught the same sound, moral & religious
principles, which were uniformly taught in the other;
scriptures, and with the enlarged and correct views
of the venerable and pious founders of this Academy.
