some knock'd down, some allmost stun'd, all exceedingly
surprised & may the Impression be lasting, it struck
all the Points in town that I can hear of. Mr Winthrop
said had it not been for Wires on Harvard the Colleges wo'd
have been destroyed it is very probable.

Peabody can give you an Account of his good Fortune if
I should enter upon a Detail time would fail me.

I was telling you when you was here last that it had
been the Custom for the Schollars to make some
Assistance to the indigent Classmates & that one in our
Class had would applyed for Assistance, his Circumstances are
these, when he was of Age he was turned into the wide World
without the least Help he then went to labour, & out into the
Army but his Constitution being weak he betook to
Learning, when he had about £350, his Sickness before, had
prevented his getting more, but his Board at School his
Schooling, Cloaths & Expence at College has taken that off
for his Parents cat buy him a Bag of Cloathes.

As to his Character tis unblemished for all any thing that I
know, he has a very good Capacity, Studies close, & makes
fine Improvements, is very serious, aims at Divinity
& bids fair to be a great Blessing; the Reason of my being so hasty
is because there is a Report that another is going to petition who
has got the Watership, which this Person has not & this Person
defers Petitioning upon my Desire, if you should be pleas'd to
consent that I should make him a present should be exceed-
ingly glad you would send word by Peabody & the I am. N.B. the
Sophomores gave [ ? ] 1 Dollar to 10 but the Fellow was not so poor as this
for further particulars plese to enquire of Peabody, the Fellow's
Name is Estabrook.

If Mr Green should desire my Assistance at Commencement
I cant go home till Friday.

Yesterday his Excellency [dissolved?] the great and general Courts.
Please to add 55/- as my half of the [ ? ] to the money sent by the B[ ? ]
