A Christian behaviour and deportments, under the sense of fruitlessness, expressing an holy submission of Soul unto God as Sovereign, much humility of mind before Him, Justifying of God and taking guilt to themselves, with a firm resolution to wait on patiently, in the use of means appointed, cannot but be edifying to Christian souls; such exercises being really the works and fruit of the Spirit of Grace working in them.

God hath his own time for making good all his promises, and we must not limit Him to a Day

Provs — 10.21 The lips of the righteous feed many: — The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; Pro — 15.7. —

Let us be at duty, leaving the event to God. Right faith will say, Tho' he slay me, yet will I trust in Him!

O Lord I beseach thee, let now thine Ear be attentive to the Prayer of thy Servants, who desire to fear thy Name.

What can we know of God, but that he far transcendeth all our knowledge, and that He is an incomprehensible one in all his ways. There is no perfection in knowledge to be had here, for have, the best but know within part & [prophesieth] in part

"Lift up your eyes Christian, & see what pleasures there are "within the veil": Come drink thy fill of the new wine, let thy faith draw the curtains of Eternity, & take a view of those heights & depths, & lengths & breadths of that glory & Joy, which there it may discover. Look on him that "sits on the throne," and those everlasting treasures of light, holiness, goodness and mercy, which are streaming from his face, on those over-flowing bowell, of kindness & compassion, on those rivers of pure & eternal pleasures, rest and peace, that rise from that glorious throne, and run through the city of God. Behold the "Tree of Life," and feed thy soul on its precious fruit, whose very leaves are for the healing of the Nations. Hearken to, & fill thine ears & heart with those triumphs & exaltations, those raptures & extacies of unspeakable & glorious Joys, turned upon the hearts & tongues of the "Heavenly Choir" the glorious Angels, "and the spirits of Just men made perfect," by the fruition of of thy God, the God of Glory.

Look on & profess this Joy & Glory; say to thy soul as God to Abraham - "Lift up thine eyes & look from the place where thou art, Northward, & southward & eastward & westward," through all the Coats & all the dimensions of the blessed land of Promise, the Holy City & then say, "Come soul, take up thy rest here, all this is thine."

"Look & love, love & long, long & hope, hope & rejoice in hope of this glory of God. Look on thy God & never leave looking, till thou art changed into his image & here let thy delight & thy dwelling be."

May you my friend be constantly experiencing such dilightful prospects, to animate you in your christian course — May nothing ever discourage you from pressing towards that perfect mark which shall lead your enterance to the full enjudgment of all that can be conceived of as adding to happiness - nay, infinitely more, than can be conjectured by mortalls as being laid up for those that love & endeavor faithfully to serve that God who plans, & executes the whole.

On the death of a Believer.

1 In vain my fancy strives to paint The moment after death; The glories that surround the saints, When yielding up their breath.

2 One gentle sigh their fetter breaks, We scarce can say, "They're gone"! Before the willing spirit takes Her mansion near the throne.

3 Faith strives, but all its efforts fail, To trace her in her flight; No eye can peirce within the veil Which hides that world of light:

4 Thus much, (and this is all) we know, They are completely blest; Have done with sin, and care, and woe, And with their Saviour rest.

5 On harps of Gold they praise his name, His face they always view; Then let us follow'rs be of them, That we may praise him too.
