I have your package
& have read that Dr. of Indi
ana the letters with great in
terest. I do not remember to
have seen that paper since
I was engaged in mailing several
hundred of them after the thirty
five had gone. I well remember
now Asah Smith came down
from the Seminary & remonstra
ted with me.
I dont feel quite satisfied with
the time which your history gives
to the affair. And yet I can see
that my letter is largely responsi
ble for the comical aspects of
the case as you have caught
