My Dear Mr Park.

I have your package
& have read that [?] of And.
and the letters with great in-
terest. I do not remember to
have seen that paper since
I was engaged in mailing several
hundred of them after the thirty
five had gone. I well remember
how [Asa?] D Smith came down
from the Seminary & remonstra-
ted with me.

I don't feel quite satisfied with
the tone which your history gives
to the affair. And yet I can see
that my letter is largely responsi-
ble for the comical aspects of
the case as you have caught
