future day. I found some valuable acquaintances in Chester
Mr Clement introduced me to the Governour Bell's family
to Judge Richardson's family to the French family and indeed
he and I studied in the forenoon and visited in the afternoon
and held meetings in the evenings continually. The benefit of
Mr Clement's conversation to me has been great. I love him
and his wife as much as if they were my brother and sister.
They assure me of a welcome reception always and to stay
as long as providence will admit when ever I can make
it convenient to come to Chester. Mrs Clement came
down with me to the north parish and I met some nice
sisters of hers who were beautiful well educated all young ladies
or under thirty and yet all adults. They feel friendly to me
perhaps on account of my having so good an advocate in
Mr C. and his wife. The first thing after I went to Mr C's
he [?] me to tell him whether I was engaged, for said
he if you are not, I have a lady for you. There are two or
three here said he who will either of them do well for a minister but
you must consider brother Otis that he was instrumental
in the conversion of these young ladies and doubtless he
thinks very highly of them. Dr Beacher preached here last
Sabbath all day and nothing else has been talked of since but his
sermons - The more so as he came down "[?] it armies" upon
Dr Woods' charging him and Taylor with being [armenians?]. After showing
what he or rather they the Taylorites preached and showing what
armenians he was he says if this be armenianism. Thank
God "we will preach on". The next morning the students
voted to apply to have both of the old Drs sermons printed
and he consents. Dr Beacher goes from Boston to take charge
