Dear Friend

Received your letter about ten
days since, and was much gratified to hear from you
again, I perceive by your letter that you are very well
pleased with your situation at New haven, I am glad
to learn that too, and while reading your description of
the Professors, I was very much elated, and longed to be
one of that number whose minds they are shaping, I
received also ten dollars by your letter, which I paid into
Mr Jones, I paid him also 12 cents for the interest, and
secured the note, Mr. Jones has left his stewardship
and left it too very unexpectedly before the time appointed
him to leave, I will give you the reasons as far
as I am able, at the commencement of the term in the
Seminary they altered their breakfast hour to sunrise
(you know that that made their breakfast near seven
o clock) and Mr. Jones did the same by our commons
and by so doing, it not only gave us an opportunity
of indulging in morning sleep, but also used up the
principle part of our time untill we were called to school
therefore you may suppose that industrious students did
not like this quite so well, as was the case, and there was by
a unanimous vote of commons a request sent to Mr. J to
give us our breakfast at the usual hour as it would
at least save one whole hour each day (that and circumstances
connected with it) Mr Jones refused, the Students
then appealed to Esq. Farar, he was willing, (here a good many
