The winter on the whole has been spent very
pleasantly indeed, considering our situation. One
can get used to most any thing you know. When
we first came into this room, the first kitchen
with a white pine table in one corner, a rusty
stove in another and the floor all dirt and
shavins, made by the carpenter, who had
been trying to renovate it a little. But now tis
like a palace. We are as contented as though
twere a parlor with pianos & sofas. I would like
to give you a history of ourselves for the past
winter, but forbear, for soon shall see you face to
face, and then you shall know all. The school
has grown thin of late on account of sickness,
the measles have been quite prevalent, many are
are sick and some terrified. Myself and a
friend watched with to sick schoolmates the other
evening. We had very pleasant time of it. Mostly
all are rapidly recovering, but they go home as fast
as able. Am going it at a smart rate now
in studies, about two pages a day in Latin grammar lesson
and "Kreb." This last is a book to guide in writing
Latin. Uncle E. has been away for a long time
till last Monday, was real glad to see him again.
He is preaching at West Newbury and is engaged
there for two weeks longer, told me this afternoon
they were to have a parish meeting, and he did
